Nightlife Crew was founded in August 2018 by Lochie Gardner and Jack Lee. Originally created as a place for mates to meet up on the weekend it was quickly established there was further potential for the club.
Along with Stuey Ipsen, Sam Sherriffs, Jake Price, Joel Karayannis and Chris Karayannis we continued to grow. Hosting Regular meets around Fountain Gate. By late 2018 Scott Otoole had replaced Jack and alongside Lochie started to get Nightlife established as a business, this included an attempt to establish a group in Queensland.
Through 2019, Nightlife Crew experienced multiple management changes and focuses on connections with other groups. On July 13th alongside Karmitted Cruises, 3Peat, JF Photography and others, Nightlife Crew held their first Mega Meet. Raising money for Black Dog Institute. The event was a great success and had over 400 cars turn up throughout the night.
For the remainder of 2019 Nightlife focused on its events making sure they were the best they could be. In October we launched our committee and began to operate under a Not For Profit business. In December we held our second Mega Meet and although not as successful, still managed to raise money.
2020 started off as the year of success, In January we launched our Geelong Division, followed by our Bush Fire Charity event in February. We also hosted our first event in Geelong and attended All Ford Day with a 10 Car Display. In March we launched the Bendigo division and hosted our first Mega Meet. With over 100 cars turning up on the night.
As Covid come upon us and all events had to be cancelled we focused on addressing our Social Media presence. With continuing sales throughout the year, we were able to continue in planning our future Post Covid.
In July 2020 to help address the growing Mental Health issues, Lochie launched Depression Warriors, a co project through the Best Life organization in Queensland. Depression Warriors set out to give people in the car scene an opportunity to speak about their battles. To date we have had guests such as Jesse Muller (Westside JDM), Andrew Musket (Car Shows Melbourne), Will Marsh, Jaydyn Baird (Broods Photography), Luke Kenny and others. In 2021 we aim to create a regular podcast for people to tune in.
In August we launched our Ballarat and Gippsland Divisions. With the focus being on Regional Victoria. Ballarat quickly grew and become the largest area within Nightlife. In early 2021 we hosted a charity event to raise money for the family of someone in the Ballarat car scene. In all we raised over $1000 for the family.
As Victoria entered a third lockdown the hope for future car meets is dwindling, but we are keeping an open mind and hoping to continue providing the best we can offer.
Nightlife will always be determined to give everyone a fair opportunity to attend an event without having to worry about judgement or hate.
Through 2021 we aim to become registered as an incorporation which will allow us to offer Club Registration and later on Motorsport Australia Licences. We hope for you to join us on this adventure.
